In a few short words/sentences, tell us about your cats' personalities.

Hajime: My sanity. He is very confident and graceful. Very zen, very independent. He is prideful and never begs for anything. He always hangs around grooming or napping in the cat tree right next to my desk. I am currently training him to go out more often and he seems to take on it quite well! He's also very intelligent - he once led me to the water tap and pawed at it to ask for water after I came back home from a holiday. Cat-sitter, unfortunately, forgot to top up their water bowls so they must be really thirsty. They never drink out straight out from the tap so it was really interesting how he figured it out!

Tomoya: He's everyone's favourite - cuddly and people-oriented. Unfortunately, a bit skittish and doesn't enjoy the great outdoors as much. He has his own dramatic moments - easily jealous if he sees me spending extra time with the other cats and will proceed to annoy them when I'm not looking. A homebody that loves to snuggle in bed and sleep on the desk next to you when you study. The best study buddy anyone can ask for.

Eubie: The most outdoorsy one of the bunch. It all started because she was the easiest to clean after going out. Extremely inquisitive and likes to investigate earthing that might be associated with food. she inspects all the pots and pans as well as the bowls at home to make sure it's all empty. Stolen a pig trotter from the stove (stove is hot and the pot has cooled down) previously and is notorious for digging through the trash. Trash cans are now permanently relocated to the pantry where the doors are always closed. As you can probably tell, she is EXTREMELY food motivated and will literally do anything to find something edible.

How have your cats transformed your life from the moment you've met them till now?

They made me more patient with things and opened many doors for me: a job at a vet clinic, being a cat foster carer, making new friends, learning about photography.

What do your cats mean to you?

They are my best friends.

How did you and your cats first meet? Tell it to us in the form of a short story.

Studying overseas alone can be really isolating despite having friends to hang out with. I started looking for a furriend on rescue pages but many turned me down due to my visa. I expanded my search to breeders, came across this litter of the cutest ragdoll floofs and arranged a meeting with the breeder. It was love in first sight, Tomoya and Hajime didn't stop playing with my sneakers through the entire meeting and I couldn't help but to take both of them. Eubie joined us a few months later when I moved to a bigger space.

What do you think your cats think of you?

I am the provider of food and games.

Your cats are part of your family. What are some things they do that make you think that consider you part of theirs?

Tomoya likes to be cuddled like a teddy bear for bedtime.

Hajime loves hanging out with me one-on-one when the others are asleep.

Eubie will fetch me her toys when its playtime, she's friendly to everyone but only lets me cuddle her.

Why do you feel that it is important to show the world that Cats are Family?

It's nice for more people to acknowledge cats are not just another object you have at home, that the bond is very much real, and not to dismiss others when they grieve for their pets. They are an important part of many people's lives.
